Oblivion Remastered has seen a lot of players and some really enjoy the new content, while others want to simply enhance the base game. The Graphics Only Version is for the puritans out there who want just that, a visually enhanced vanilla experience. Down below is the instructions to install the graphics only version manually and it will be available on the Gamehub by the end of May. Below are the instructions on how to install the graphics only version.

Setting up Vanilla:

This part is simple. All you have to do is download the game through steam and make sure it is not installed on your C: drive in your computer. (You can install there but might have glitches) It would be best to install to a different steam library folder on a different hard drive (if possible)

If you already have Oblivion downloaded but with ANY mods, you definitely need to delete your Oblivion game folder, and reinstall through steam to get back to vanilla. You probably can’t manually take out whatever mods you added so this is the 100% way to make it right.

Once you have vanilla Oblivion downloaded, start up the launcher, go into options, and fix your screen resolution. (4k performance isn’t good so a resolution around 2k is better) Once you have your screen resolution selected, open your game, make a new character, make a game-save, and quit the game and you’re ready to start modding.

Check for these files:
(Documents>My Games>Oblivion) BlendSettings.ini
(Documents>My Games>Oblivion) Oblivion.ini
(If not there, remake the game-save and re-check)

Installing the Mods:

Now it's time to install the mods. So the two tools you will use is the ModList and the Spreadsheet. The ModList tells you how to install the mods and the spreadsheet tells you what are info about the mods such as descriptions, mod type, and their authors. To install, open the ModList and install from top to bottom only. The install order is very important as files are constantly overwriting each other. At the top of the ModList is the legend that shows you how to install each mod so once you understand whats there, you are good to install the mods.

Fixing your .ini file:

You will want to refer to the "Oblivion.ini edits" which can be viewed here. All you have to do for this step is:

1) Open your INI file in “Documents>My Games>Oblivion>Oblivion.ini”

2) Use the “Find” tool to find all of the ini settings and replace them with the right values.

The “OblivionINI-Edits.txt” is in the right order as they appear in your “Oblivion.ini”, from top to bottom so you can just scroll down the list and fix all of your settings. Once, that is done, you can save and close the Oblivion.ini.

Finishing up:

Now open your “Oblivion>4gbRamPatch.exe” and select the “Oblivion>Oblivion.exe” and “Oblivion>OblivionLauncher.exe." You will then see “.backup” files be made for both of those .exes in your "Oblivion" folder. Once you are done, you can install the mod manager.

To install the Mod Manager, just open the “obmm_setup.exe” inside your "Oblivion" folder and install it to your Oblivion game folder. Once installed:

  1. Right click the mods on the left and "Activate all"
  2. Go to "Import> Import load Order" and select the .olod inside your "Oblivion" folder

(If you see any errors pop up, they are mods that you didn't install or that you install incorrectly. If you meant to install a mod that isn’t showing up then you'll want to reinstall that mod to make sure it's there. Then import the load order again to check)

Close the mod manager for the settings to take effect
