Setting up Vanilla:

This part is simple. All you have to do is download the game through steam and make sure it is not installed to your C: drive in your computer. (You can install there but might have glitches) It would be best to install to a different steam library folder on a different hard drive (if possible)

If you already have Oblivion downloaded but with ANY mods, you definitely need to delete your Oblivion game folder, and reinstall through steam to get back to vanilla. You probably can’t manually take out whatever mods you added so this is the 100% way to make it right.

Once you have vanilla Oblivion downloaded, start up the launcher, go into options, and fix your screen resolution. (4k performance isn’t good so a resolution around 2k is better) Once you have your screen resolution selected, open your game, make a new character, make a game-save, and quit the game and you’re ready to start modding.

Check for these files:
(Documents>My Games>Oblivion) BlendSettings.ini
(Documents>My Games>Oblivion) Oblivion.ini
(If not there, remake the game-save and re-check)

Installing the Mods:

This list is meant to be installed line by line, from top to bottom. The whole modlist is designed to show you the mod name, zip name, where to get the zip, where to extract the contents, and what to extract. Here is the ModList and also the Spreadsheet that tell you what each mod does.

Fixing your .ini file:

You will want to refer to the OblivionINI-Edits.txt which can be viewed here. All you have to do for this step open your INI file in “Documents>My Games>Oblivion>Oblivion.ini”. Then once you have that open, just use the “Find” tool to find all of the settings and replace them with the right values. The “OblivionINI-Edits.txt” is in the right order as they appear in your “Oblivion.ini”, from top to bottom so you can just scroll down the list and fix all of your settings. Once, that is done, you can save and you're good to go.

The Last Mod:

The last mod on the list is the official Oblivion Remastered mod and it includes all of the original content as well as the patches that make all of the other mods run well. You MUST have ALL essential mods for this last mod to work. View this to see what all files are necessary for .esp files are needed for the last mod to work. If atleast 1 thing is missing, your game will not start with this mod enabled so you need to pay close attention to that to make sure everything is good to go!

Finishing up:

Now open your “Oblivion” game folder and open the “4gbRamPatch.exe” and select your “Oblivion.exe” and your “OblivionLauncher.exe” in the "Oblivion" game folder. You will then see “.backup” files be made for both of those .exe's. Once you are done, you can install the mod manager.

To install the Mod Manager, just open the “obmm_setup.exe” inside your "Oblivion" folder and install it to your Oblivion game folder. Once installed:

  1. Right click the mods on the left and "Activate all"
  2. Go to "Import> Import load Order" amd select the .olod inside your "Oblivion" folder

(If you see any errors pop up, they are mods that you didn't install or that you install incorrectly. If you meant to install a mod that isn’t showing up then you'll want to reinstall that mod to make sure it's there. Then import the load order again to check)

Close the mod manager for the settings to take effect
